The following 18 business ideas for moms are just a fraction of the possibilities out there. Give one a try!

1. Online Sales

There are so many items that can be sold online. If you are an artist, create cool crafts, make toiletries, write books, or can use software to develop digital items, you can sell it online. If you don’t have any of these items or no skills to do such things, you might even try dropshipping. With dropshipping, you don’t keep an inventory on hand. Instead, you sell for other companies.

If you have a knack for sales and are an efficient marketer, you could be truly successful in online sales.

2. Virtual Assistant

Virtual Assistants are huge in the world of remote working. A Virtual Assistant’s duties vary based on who you work for. Many employers expect their VAs to keep their calendar, monitor emails, handle travel arrangements, and schedule appointments. Others might also want their assistants to manage social media, conduct marketing research, and create presentations.

If you feel that you could handle these tasks, try working as a Virtual Assistant! If you find yoursef to be successful, you could even start a business that assigns VAs to clients. The possibilities are endless with this business idea.

3. In-Home Childcare

If you love kids and are already home with your own children, in-home childcare can provide you with a great income. States typically have different requirements on what is necessary of in-home childcare providers, so be sure to do your research prior to jumping into this one. If you find that this is the business you want to start, you could find yourself with a long-term and successful in-home business.

4. Blogging

As a blogger myself, I want to start with this: starting a blog does not automatically mean you’re going to get paid. There is a lot of work and knowledge required for successful bloggers. However, if you do the work and use the knowledge that so many professional bloggers have available to you, you could find yourself making thousands of dollars per month. Some bloggers reach six figures per month.

I had been blogging (somewhat cluelessly) for about 18 months before I saw any kind of income. I got inspired and took a course on search engine optimization called Stupid Simple SEO and feel that I’m well on my way to making an income that could actually help my family. If you put in the work and invest in education, you can become a money-making blogger.

5. Freelance Writing

I started freelance writing and blogging at the same time. Freelance writing is a much easier way to make an income at home. Personally, I’ve found the most success with Upwork. Although Upwork has changed a bit since I first started, I’ve found it to be just as useful as it was 2 years ago.

A freelance writer can make as little or as much as he or she wants! A brand new writer might not make a lot per job, but there are plenty of jobs out there. When you’ve gained more experience, you can find yourself making $30 an hour or more.

6. Life Coach

The role of a life coach can include a lot. From helping people with their fitness goals to improving their relationships, life is a broad term to coach someone on. If you’re a positive person and ready to help someone else improve their way of life, you may be perfect for this job!

9. Virtual Teacher

There are so many companies these days hiring for online teachers and tutors. This was a popular work at home option for people prior to COVID-19 hit, but even more so after. VIPkid, Qkids, and Teach Away are some of the more well-known options. While I’ve never personally used any of them, my sister teaches for VIPkid and has had a wonderful experience thus far.

If you’d rather create your own virtual teaching business, that’s possible, too! You might start as an online tutor and begin to expand when you’re getting more students.

10. Pet Sitting

Whether you’re a dog lover or a cat lover, you can create a successful business by inviting animals into your home. Some pet sitters visit the animals in their own homes. It may depend on your home situation and whether or not you feel comfortable with dogs and cats you are unfamiliar with in your space.

As a dog owner myself, I know that I pay decent money to pet sitters when I go out of town. Some pet owners even pay for a person to keep their dogs while they are at work. There are a lot of options and revenue streams available to a pet sitter.

  1. I’ve been a stay at home mom for about 2 1/2 years. I initially worked part time helping my husband with our transportation business but now I’m working on my own business as a blogger, YouTuber and Etsy shop owner. Let me tell you…….the struggle is very real! The great thing is craftsmanship and helping others are two gifts that I have that I’m very passionate about. The struggle is time to do it all! I started this journey about 8 months ago so I haven’t seen income from it yet but I’ve grown and learned so much in each business. I believe my efforts will pay off real soon and every early morning and late night will be well worth the struggle! Praying for success for all of you on your work from home mom journey!
