Full disclosure: we’ve been hit hard financially recently, so we’re living on Bible verses for financial struggles. We are still trying to learn how to operate with me being home with the kiddos and not having my full-time income anymore. On top of that, we are living in medical bills galore! It seems like there is one illness after the other, and a complication or two right after that. It can be easy to lose faith in times like these – to say, “Come on, God. Give me a break, here!” While I won’t lie and say I haven’t said those exact words a time or two, I will say that I wouldn’t make it through this without my faith.
When I start feeling overwhelmed, worried, anxious, or just stressed out about bills and money, I look to these 10 pieces of scripture for financial hardship. Praying over these Bible verses about money worries makes my life so much easier. If you need the same prayer, use it. I highly recommend it!
1. Matthew 6:31-34
“So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”
A portion of this scripture is possibly one of the most quoted verses in the Bible. I’m sure you know that I’m referring to “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you…” Every time I read this verse I think of the hymn that goes with it. It’s a good song and I truly love that verse. Having said that, when I am experiencing financial problems, the part of these verses that I cling to is the last part:
“…do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”
So, when I’m stressing about how we’re going to pay the next medical bill, I turn to this series of verses. I am reminded that tomorrow is tomorrow’s problem, but even then, God is with me.
2. Phillippians 4:19
“And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.”
God will meet your needs. Needs. I trust in Him to provide our needs. Our wants are something else entirely. If you think that bible verses for financial help will help you get everything you want, turn to God in prayer. He can help to remind you of what you need.
3. Luke 6:38
“Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”
Despite the frequent misinterpretation of this verse, I felt that it should be included. If you read the passage leading up to this verse, you can probably tell that it isn’t all about money. This verse doesn’t say give money and you’ll get money.
In truth, Jesus is talking about forgiveness. So, why include this verse if it has nothing to do with my financial woes? Imagine forgiving a debt. You could really use that money that so-and-so owes you right now. But forgive that debt, and your debt will be forgiven as well.
4. Proverbs 3:9-10
“Honor the Lord with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops; then your barns will be filled to overflowing,
and your vats will brim over with new wine.”
Tithe. He will take care of you.
This is one I personally struggle with. Mathematically, it doesn’t make sense for me to give my money to the church when I have bills I’m struggling to pay. God says to give anyway. I’ve got you.
5. Matthew 6:26
“Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?”
I personally love this one because I had never thought about it in this way prior to reading this verse. Birds don’t have a worry in the world. And yet, I am the daughter of a King and worry on the regular! Why? I am more valuable to Him than the birds and their full stomachs, so trust that He’s got this.
6. 1 Timothy 6:10
“For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.”
This verse reminds me to consider my attitude toward money and the truth. Do we really need the money, or is it just something that I’m greedy for? Could I cut something out that we don’t need? Listen to what is important. What does my family need? Focus on that.
7. Acts 20:35
“In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’”
Even when I’m struggling, there is someone out there that I can help. Instead of focusing on what might help us to make ends meet, do something for someone that has it harder than I do. It is enlightening and freeing.
8. Phillippians 4:12-13
“I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do all this through him who gives me strength.”
The last part of this passage is very popular because of the motivational aspect. It is one of my own personal favorites. However, the first portion of this gives context that not a lot of people are aware of. Whether I am struggling or at peace, happy or sad, hungry or fed, I can get through it because of my God who gives me the strength I need.
That context helps me to apply the verse to financial struggles. I can do this because of Him.
9. Matthew 7:7
“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.”
Pray, pray, pray. If I fail to pray, I am not asking for what I seek. I am not knocking at the door. Pray and He’ll listen.
10. Mark 10:27
“Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God.”
I saved the best for last! When things look impossible – when you can’t imagine where you’re going to get the money for groceries or keep a roof over your head – God intervenes. I have experienced this time and time again. Because of that, I have faith that it will be taken care of this time around, too. If I can do that, so can you!

Hello Nduka..I read your request for prayer. I too am in great debt all since covid…I was trying to re locate back to Michigan where I am from…I have four brothers there. I knew three of them did not believe in God but not all four. None of them would give me shelter until I found a place . I was shocked…I could not afford New Mexico anymore..a safe area…so I moved to South Dakota..my debt keeps growing..I am on a motel here for two and a half weeks now…you need your social security card for rent.. fortunately I had my passport but..more time…motel bill..Penske truck with my belongings costing me fifty dollars a day…people day put your stuff in storage..It costs money to pay people to load unload…many mistakes I guess I made..however…I feel your pain..I just want to work…my debt is over the time…my bills are huge…two thousand for the truck…fourteen hundred to put stuff in storage in New Mexico…two hundred a tank for diesel…a couple thousand for the motel I stayed in back in New Mexico waiting for the winter to subside somewhat here…anyhow..it goes on and on…I will pray for you and everyone else..hang in there..plus I have my seven cats with me…we will be okay…

Yeah, I I Love this too. This is the first verse given to my mother when I was three years of age; by then, I see the different versions of it, and it’s truly alive. We’ll continue to hold on to our faith through Christ Jesus.
Ive been battling with financial struggles since my husband passed away in 2017. I know the lord but I fall short at times on giving my worries unto him. Right now I’m struggling financially and the stress is overwhelming. I try to remind myself that god never gives us more than we can handle so I need to give all my anxiety to him and have faith that he will deliver me through my rough times. These scriptures on financial hardships have been very enlightening to me and have brought me back to humble myself in knowing that all things are possible through Christ and he will never leave or forsake me as long as I believe in him and keep his commandments. Faith over fear in all things, now it is time for me to give back to someone else whose struggling as the scripture has shown me it’s better to give than receive Amen 🙏

I would like to add that our present struggles cant compare to what’s waiting for us in Glory. I was just illuminated on how my past struggles and hurts were preparing me for what still lies ahead in my future. If I had never known or experienced some situations that happened in my past when worse things or things similar came I would not have been able to withstand. It would have taken me out.

I’ve been in debt these years; my mother died last year, so I need to take half of the payments for the hospital, and badly saying I add up more for my son’s apartment bills, and of my debts in taxes, it’s a vast sum that I could not find any airflow from my lungs to breathe. We all have tough times, some more than some but through it all God is still God. I know many will ask where is this good God and why hasn’t He come through for me but we must understand that God doesn’t operate in time and when He shows up, it’s just the right time.
Continue to take Him at His words and believe that He will come through for you. He is able and I speak from personal testimony. He will come through, keep the faith and watch Him work.

Thanks for this page and the verses that encourages me in this tough time financial stress and distress due to kids medical bills, unemployment both my husband and I for the past two years my husband had no work…squeezing loans, overwhelming debts because of my child hospitalization…life is tough…but I do believe God is with me and with us…claiming His promises…let’s pray for each other..

Dear children of the Most High. It has been a roller coaster of emotions and sheer dread about financial attack in my life for past two years already. If i did not know that i am who whom Jesus loved, i wouldve closed the doors of my business a long time ago. I stumble daily by finding myself mortified about the blatant attack of my business and finances by the evil…and yet i am reminded to ask and believe….i am reminded never to worry but pray and believe….Please let pray for one another unceasingly ….thank you.

Hello everyone, I want to thank almighty God, to give me the wisdom to open this page… I have a lot am going through in my life, am not working, am going through financial problems, I can’t do anything for myself, am divorce nothing is going well in my life… but I thank God I was able to open this page.. now I have so much strength knowing the Lord is with me, he will never leave me, non forsake me… his doing wonderful work as well to his children and I know he will do it for me too.. Me too. I have a huge financial debt including bank default payments. My land is at stake- can be taken by the bank if I fail to pay. Business is at standstill and my customers that took items on credit are not fulfilling their obligations.etc. But today’s scripture in our church quoted Phillippians 4: 4 – 7 and as I was searching ,I came across these “ten verses recommended for financial hardships” Apostle Paul emphasizes the need to1)Give thanks to the Lord in whatever situation
2)Raise your problems up to Him.
3)Don’t ever worry
4)Help and donate to the needy – charity
Share the little you have even if you are facing difficulties.
5) Repent. and I may add on
6) Fast and pray and pray and pray. God will take care of all your troubles.
He has ever done great things for me and my family through this procedure, you will also testify.

I just lost my husband of 22 years on December 14th 2021. We were not just partners in life, we were partners in business as Realtors for 21 years. I find myself missing my husband so much and wondering what the future holds regarding work. We were a team and the thought of going on in real estate without him does seem daunting. We worked together well because we each worked to our strengths. He was the person who showed homes, wrote offers and negotiated deals. I did all the behind the scenes work, transaction coordination, marketing, finances/bookkeeping and nurturing the relationships that we built with our clients, many of whom became good friends.
I stumbled on this page because find myself going down the road of lack. I know that what I focus on expands and that I need to focus on God’s word. Being reminded that God will provide for my “needs” was what I needed to see. I knew all of these verses posted but I needed that reminder that God is in control and he cares about me and will take care of me. I need to relax and listen to Him.
Thank you for this post. It’s been five weeks of being without my husband, Mark but I haven’t been alone. God is with me every step of the way.

You have to accept what happened and move on now. Stop thinking too much about your husband or the dead.

I have put everything I have financially and all of me to create my nonprofit foundation for domestic violence survivors. I believe that it is Gods will to have me on this mission. It is such a gift and blessing.
I have run out of everything that I have invested and have sold many of my things to keep above to pay my bills but now that too is at that point where I am looking for the donors, sponsors, or grants to come through. So, I can pay my bills and costs of the foundation and demands. I am so worried every day now. Gods guidance would be so helpful what am I not hearing? He is sending so many in need my way and contacts – its the money to exist that is not happening.

My favorite bible verse “Be still and know that I am God”. Take it day by day, hour by hour, minute by minute. He will help you, just know that he will. Sometimes he comes in at a different angle then what you are expecting so hang tight, it may be a bumpy ride for a little while, but know that the good Lord is driving the train.
Am really blessed with all that has been shared here. It can only be God who has directed me to this page. I have been struggling with financial difficulties for 15 years now “rubbing peter to pay paul” since my husband became ill and lost his salary and all the children’s responsibilities fell on me alone. Things have not really been easy especially as it has reached a point where we had to move out of our home due to the current crisis. At a point like this i believe only God can make a way for us.Especially as even paying the rents has become a big problem. I have also been struggling with the issue of paying my tithes. This is because after paying debts i have nothing remaining in my salary to pay tithes. It really borders me but i dont know what to do.
Since the COVID-19 pandemic I have experienced financial difficulties, the micro-business that I run has experienced an impact so that I cannot pay the rent for the shop where I do business. But lately the economy has slowly started to move but I have run out of capital so I don’t have the money to continue the continuity of the business that I run. I plan to borrow money from family or friends who have wealth. I doubted whether they were willing to lend me the money, so I asked the Lord Jesus to open the door of their hearts to lend me the money.
We too are a small business with great financial responsibility and little income at this point. Praying that as we continue to work hard to sow the seed that the Lord will bring the harvest! Please pray for us to have wisdom in the days ahead as our savings is dwindling to pay our business debt. It causes me great anxiety on many days though I pray continually. May the Lord provide abundantly for each of you!

God said this to strengthen the faith of Jeremiah and he is using the verse now to strengthen our faith in him. All we need to do is have faith in him, trust him! Nothing is ever too big for him to do. He created us, is it taking care of us that he can not? No! Just have faith!

Sadly some us a more blessed than others, those like.me.who are struggling probably.did.something bad past life so.we.are paying for.it, we shoukd.be able to.suicide and not be punished if this life is not working out, god only helps.few people.maybe 100k in world population, everyone else has bad luck sad.ti say, we just wait until.death for answers, smh
My family and I really struggling this year. A lot as happened and everything has hit us all at once. But I pray daily and I know God hears us. I know he’s watching over us and will protect us, provide us with what we need. It just really sucks when you have a child/children and you don’t know how you will buy food for the next week. Or what bill can we NOT pay just to make it to the next week. But I have faith and I’m keeping the faith. The lord has us 🙏♥️

Personally, I am praying for my health issues that God will restore me holistically. Thank you for the encouragement herein.miracles/mysteries are what I am praying /asking from Heaven to: that is, He will heal my seemingly deprressive state –due to my husband’s death last year,fincial issues, health issues.

One feel so very lonely when you go through such a rough financial valley, even when you know God will not abandon you and rescue you. So many questions you ask and just ask God to give you the strength to keep on standing.
I know the lord but I fall short at times on giving my worries unto him. Right now I’m struggling financially and the stress is overwhelming. I try to remind myself that god never gives us more than we can handle so I need to give all my anxiety to him and have faith that he will deliver me through my rough times. These scriptures on financial hardships have been very enlightening to me and have brought me back to humble myself in knowing that all things are possible through Christ and he will never leave or forsake me as long as I believe in him and keep his commandments. Faith over fear in all things, now it is time for me to give back to someone else whose struggling as the scripture has shown me it’s better to give than receive Amen 🙏
